Bursary department effectiveness reviews

Bursary department effectiveness reviews

Schools are always looking to improve the effectiveness of their operations and on occasions schools choose to examine the way their bursary department operates. Is it over or under staffed, is work allocated properly, are the team suitably qualified and skilled and is any unnecessary work being carried out? Furthermore, is the bursary providing an effective service to the governors, the senior management team and the wider school community?

Baines Cutler has specialist knowledge of bursary structures. Tim Baines has been the leading school’s audit partner in the UK over the last 10 years and he has acted for schools of all sizes and types, including many of the UK’s very top schools. He has seen first-hand over 100 bursary departments and has worked with many more on non-audit projects.  Tim knows what to expect, what works and what doesn't and what is considered to be best practice.

In carrying out bursary reviews we usually meet and interview all bursary staff, speak with other members of the SMT who use their services and also speak to governors about their requirements. We record who does what and compare it with best practice and benchmark the size and skills of the team against what we would expect in similar schools. We produce recommendations and an action plan. If you would like to find out more about our services or discuss your requirements please Contact Tm with your issues.
