Financial Benchmarking Survey

Financial Benchmarking Survey

The Independent Schools Financial Benchmarking Survey is the most authoritative source of financial information on the sector available today. It is an annual survey supported by all the leading sector organisations and has data from schools covering two thirds of all pupils at ISC Schools. The 2015 survey was published in May 2015 and had 583 returns from 700 schools.

The Independent Schools Financial Benchmarking Survey was started by Tim Baines in 1996 and has been issued every year since then. It has grown to become the official financial survey for the sector supported by the ISC, the ISBA, AGBIS, IAPS, HMC, GSA and the ISA. Participants receive a “first-cut” data email from Tim Baines in early March in time to inform their Spring Term budgeting and fee-setting meetings and they also receive a copy of the published report. This report is launched each May at the ISBA Annual Conference. Data is collected online each January via the ISC website and all ISC schools are invited to participate. Non participants can purchase copies from May onwards.

The 2015 Independent Schools Financial Benchmarking Survey was published on 13 May 2015 at the ISBA Conference at Celtic Manor. More information is available in our Publications section.

Whilst the published survey provides overall market intelligence schools wishing to use the data to assess their own school’s comparative performance are encouraged to purchase a custom benchmark report comparing their school’s key ratios just with peer schools. More information on custom benchmark reports can be found in our Publications section..
